Decided to give the air box a bit of modding to see if it would fit in with the 2.0 engine... Found that the ducting and everything is the same size for the 2.0 air mass meter as it is for the air box. I removed all of the internals of the airbox so it is basically a filter in an enclosed box with a cool air feed... So it has none of that stuff to warm the cat up quicker e.t.c.. in it anymore... Just fits in the engine bay...

It's just running the standard paper filter which is far better for the engine than the induction kit. Especilally round here in the summer when it get's bloody dusty. I think you can on'y get away with doing this if you have an Ecotec pipe because you need you stretch it round a bit...

You will need the gsi airbox, and a cold air feed into the bottom of the box,

dave at v tuning tried it your way and found the engine didnt get no way near enough cold air,
think how loud the induction is on a 2ltr so how much air its sucking in each time!!

Id say 2 more air feeds into the box

I have got some more ducting that can go into the bottom of the box, bearing in mind that the whole side of the airbox is open where I removed the flappy bit that flips the air feed from cold to hot...
