.....bought a laptop DVD drive to go into my car PC to replace the CD ROM

took the old one out, whacked new one in

when i turn it on it says INSERT BOOT DISK AND PRESS RETURN and goes no further

any ideas why it wont recognise it? dont know the make/model but will i need a driver? never needed one in the past

sounds like the pc aint picking hard drive up anymore, is it on same ribbon? if so jumper setting prob, if not prolly ribbon or power came off harddrive
