On a 99 GTI thats not bad, average of 10,000 miles a year.

When I was looking they were around 90,000 to right up through the roof

wouldn't mind one with around 60,000 to be honest. As long as it's been kept in good nick and not ragged every day of the week.

Out of interest, what are the performance figures for the 1.8 GTI?

to be honest I would if it didn't have 80k on the clock.

I'm after something with cheaper insurance as well (believe it or not the celica will be cheaper to insure once i get my 3rd year NCB). All the mods on the astra will push it up as well

very nice car though, love the colour and the wheels

i've sat in a golf and like them.
not driven one though.

golf's are fatties though aren't they? weigh a lot so are quite slow. can't compare it to the SRi.

this is the thing, I've always regarded them as quite sluggish looking but I've never actually driven one.

Would prefer and all out sports car, especially as the insurance would remain the same. Age doesn't really matter as long as the mileage is relatively low (seen a few around 60k).

I'll keep looking

Golf 1.8 GTI is alot slower than a Corsa 1.8 SRI.

Golf V5 is about the same as Corsa 1.8 SRI.

Golf 1.8 GTI is about 10 secs to 60.
Corsa 1.8 SRI is about 8 secs to 60.
Golf V5 is about 8 secs to 60.
Vectra V6 is about 8 secs to 60.

Buy a Vectra.
