Watched this today with a blonde mate. At the end, when Cruise notices birds landing on the tripod, showing shield has gone and they can shoot it down, this lass thought the aliens were dying because the birds were pecking them to death

It spoilt it for me when the first EMP went off. Some person was still using his Camcorder after, and filming the aliens.

The little boffin girl in the film asks cruise "What's the Capital of Australia". Some dipshit of a girl next to me shouted Sydney. Me and some bloke behind were pissing ourselves laughing.

No, because, knowing that the bits would be needed for the storyline (camcorder etc), they had been specially stored in EMP resistant packaging.
