TNM try to get a test drive on both and see what you think.

Personally I'd go for the Escort even though I hate all fords, but the 306 is'nt a nice drive trust me

It all down to your own taste though

I know how the escort drives as the missus has got the GTi. Its not fast but its a nice'ish car with air con.

306 is a bit boring and i dont know if i could ever have a french car again

^ be lucky to get a 306 gti-6 if he has only around 2k to spend. Decent ones are around 3.5 -4.5k
