Make sure you do it in plenty time before the tax runs out
They dont back date it anymore as i learned the hard way
The month i crashed the pulsar the tax ran out and i didnt get round to sending to s.o.r.n off until a couple of weeks into the next month
Got a letter saying they no longer back date it and i have to pay £11

Also incase you didnt know you can s.o.r.n online on DVLA website

saying that.....

do they still send you yearly reminders....

The corsa has been off the road for well over a year (sorn'd) ..... i cant recall getting a reminder to re-sorn....

I always laugh when you re-tax from being SORN'd...... the wifey at the post office treat you like scum for some reason... asking you snotty questions about where the car has been etc....

i got a reminder for the vectra 12 months after it had been sorned

but

a lad at work bought a nail fiesta and left it parked up at a mates in a rough area for a couple months and it got knicked so he never bothered claiming or ringing police as he only paid £50 for it and for some reason just sorn it.
never got a reminder through and one day he gets a bill for unpaid tax

i think the system is daft because some people slip through the net and others get pounced on straight away

the corsa didnt get taxed until 3 weeks into the month as it failed mot and nothing happened..... i thought u was meant to get fined after 3 days

some old timer driving a council bus with disabled children onboard overtook a lorry as i was about to pull out of the end of my road and he clipped my front end

insurance wrote it off and paid me 4.5 for the car so i went and bought another one, bought that one back off insurance for £800 swapped a load of bits over and sold it for £1500 plus a clutch, cambelt and water pump change on corsa

Had the white supra lifted from outside my bro's flat (in a space) when it was sorn'd.... had to pay 400 to get it out of the pound!!! class
