it is a legal requirement for a new car to have a cat from 1993 (aug)

however from what I can read the MOT does not say the car has to have one but iot has to pass an emissisons test.

so you can run your car with a decat solong as it passes the emissisons test for the year of build

yep, so long as it passes the figures from the 'cat type' test without, then it doesn't actually require one.

but u aint gona get a car through the 0.02co% on the bet test there are means and ways of gettin newer cars tested with no cat legaly BUT have a decat on ue car and get pulled by vosa and yes vosa can stop u will get a prohibition notice cancelling ur current mot and if the feds are present u will get points and a fine

as for u kerry that is bollox as there is a facility on emmison machines that allows u to carry out a cat test @ a base setting if its registered after august 1st 1992 u must have a cat fitted unless u can provve the year of ur engine to be older than this

From what I believe as long as it passes emisssions test it wont matter if you have a cat or not

However

The police can stop you & do a "cat test" & thats when you'll get in trouble

So you wont necceceraly fail your MOT but it is illegal
