im 19, have been on my dads insurance for a year on a 1.2 8v, and want to put a 1.4 16v in my car or just buy a 1.4 sport, and want to go on my own insurance, ive been getting quotes online..... 19, 0 pts, 1 claim - none less than about £1900 fully comp !! surely it should be less than that?? may have to stay on dads, and does it matter if its a 1.4 conversion or an actual 1.4 just out of interest?

Keep shopping around. You should be aiming for about £1500-1600..

Don't have a clue, but i'd imagine they'd be happier if it was a 1.4 in the first place, also a lot easier to swap your mods onto a new car rather than engine conversion, id of thought..
