will the engine number by the same for a 1998 1.4 sport to a 2000 1.4 sport

do you mean engine code or the number unique to the engine :S

need to find out if a 1998 ecu will work on my 2000 thank its the one on the reg document

They're both X14XE but the management may be different.

If you have both ECUs there post all the numbers and codes which appear printed on.

i have one of the ecu's as its mine he wants, but its in my mates yard, i'll be able to find out tomorrow. richy if you u2u me your mobile number i'll bell you tomorrow when i'm up at the yard
