bet all he does it for is the feedback. gets the auction finished then refunds as item is damaged so he buildsu p his feedback for the small cost of a listing fee

That would be an expensive way of building feedback as he'd also have Final Auction fee's to pay. Be much easier to buy shed loads of tat for 0.99p
