Author a camera shop has knackered my memory card

My sister took some pics on my camera and took the whole camera to one of these photography shops where they have a machine that you stick the card in and choose the pics you want to print off, she gave it to the guy working there and he worked the machine then she chose a few pics to print.

Any how ive just come to use my camera and it doesnt seem to recognise the card anymore, on picture taking mode it says the pic number is full and on playback it just says card error and wont let me delete anything. The camera is a Fuji S5500 with a 512mb XD card, and it works fine with the original fuji 16mb card.

If i need a new card can i claim it off the shop or do they have disclaimers saying stuff like use at your own risk, we wont be responsible blah blah etc?

check the pins inside the camera where the memory card sits, i had this problem...well still have all the pins in the camera are bent! £100 to refurb at fuji :S

try formatting the card using the camera

yes that would be my suggestion. but the pictures should still be on there. they should not have done anything to the card other than read it.

camera works fine, its the card thats fucked
