Im going to America in a couple of months but Im wondering what the deal will be with the power over there?? Its just for my batteries for my digi cam but Im not sure if they will recharge properly over there as the voltage is only half ours. Will it just change them in double the time or will it damage them??

It'll be fine, you don't really need 240v to charge a 1.5v battery....

Pick up a converter from Boots or EBay

What you mean where is the logic in that?? Im no electrician but surely if the voltage is halfed then the time to fully charge will be twice as long? Like wise if you plugged a 240v fan into a 120v american socket it would spin at half the speed would it not??

They use 110v there, if you are using things like mobile phone chargers then the adaptor should work between 110v and 240v - it will be printed on the info lable on the adaptor. Stuff like hair dryers that don't have adaptors will require a step up transformer for them to work.

Most things only run about 3-12volts from the mains anyway. Like your charger etc.

Obvioulsy 1800ed hairdrier and kettles etc are 240v

Digital camera battery chargers need a step up transformer too Mine did anyway, it's a Sony one for AA batterys, I imagine most are similar/same?
