Just curious to who runs optimax and do they notice any difference?
The previous owner of my Civic has done for the last 3 years, but I usually run the normal unleaded so will stick to that.

I run it in the tank every 6-8 tanks to keep things clean.
It's really just unleaded with cleaner/octain boosters in. which is cheapert o pay the extra £2 for a tank rather than £5 on a bottle of cleaner.

Wouldnt bother unless its a Jap car designed to run on higher ron petrol!!
My car runs like a pile of shite if I put normal unleaded in!!

Yep, Optimax and 2m/l of Nitrous Formula octane booster to every litre of fuel (so 100m/l to a full tank)

Yes, since it seems a lot more economical with Optimax than with normal 95-RON Unleaded (30-40 miles more per tank), plus it does feel a bit more responsive under acceleration (maybe only slightly, maybe just me imagining something that's not actually happening, but the car definitely seemed to feel a little sluggish with 95-RON).

My car states 98 ron as the prefered fuel so I use optimax

RON rating is just the fuels resistance level to pre ignition (detonation) If your car isnt set up to run with it you wont see hardly any performance gains.
The only reason you see performance gains in Jap cars like Evos and Scoobies is that they are mapped to 100 RON Jap fuel. If the ECU detects low octane fuel it retards the ignition map and lowers boost to resist detonation, hence lowering performance.

Optimax offically is 95, doesn't show RON on the pump, but the MON is the highest or petrols available at the pump, which is far more relaivant to turbo's and high comp engines.

I remember when BP Ultimate came out and there were rumours of it being 100 octane!!
That would have been nice! Would have saved me a fair bit on octane booster!!!
