right, on my boot there is a small area where the paint is flaking away, and i was thinking of rubbing the area down and touching it up.
Although am not sure what i would need, i would need to rub down where it is flaking with some wet and dry paper right? then rub down the bare metal, then apply primer, rub that down, then a few of paint coats then laquer (sp).

you need to rub it down so all the flaking metal is gone, (no need to go all the way to bare metal) then just spray over the colour that is there, no need for primer as the paint that is there will act as this, make sure you try and blow it on, then you need to flat it all and re laquer the whole boot so that that paint is not patchy. but if you are thinking of rattle canning it then it will look shite, if you have not got a sprauy gun and compressor then pay someone to do it or it will look bad!!!!
