Setting up a brand new PC for a mate it's a Compaq AMD 3000+ but it keeps crashing out 2mins after the windows welcome screen, it's been swapped at the shop already and only thing i can think of is the Linksys WMP11 wireless card as everything is stock hardware/software?
Anyone had any problems with compaq/linksys before?

Does this happen when the card is removed?, also I had a windows security update that restarted my presario everytime it started up. It was a bitch to sort.

Adam Petherick: The card was working fine in the previous system so I don't think it's a
Adam Petherick: hardware fault on the card and was wondering if there are compatability issues>?#

First you really need to remove the card and see if the system is up and running fine without it. Then try completly removing the old drivers and reinstall the card. Then try rolling back the drivers to previous versions and try each one at a time. It's gonna have to be trial and error which is tedious

When you say it crashes out, does the PC just lock?
Sounds like an IRQ conflict. With the card in, try starting the PC in safemode.

take the card and uninstall the drivers, then download the latest drivers from another pc put them on cd or whatever and install them , dont put the card in until the drivers are installed

Take the card out, reset the system, put card back in and download and install some new drivers. Or just get a new card or PC, maybe not the cheapest solution though

You can also check the Compaq site. HP in this case. & look for BIOS updates. As long as you have the correct model number for your system. A ROM update wont hurt any one.
