Your best just going into a music shop and asking their advice, i had a few books when i first started, but you improve alot quicker with a teacher, have a look see if theirs anyone local in your area, i just used to go for an hour a week, you'll learn the basics quicker, then you can teach yourself more complicated music afterwards

Get a book, i'm trying to teach myself at the moment But keep getting distracted. My mum has shown me 6 or 7 chords and i'm just practising those at the moment I reckon you'll find it easier to pick up a book learn the chords then alot of it is just about practising before you start to learn anything proper

if you are dedicated to learning then it won't matter on how you learn.

I just taught myself thru the web!

you'll find it easy to learn but near impossible to master the guitar!

but note that if you plan to learn from an acoustic you'll have to endure more pain to train your finger strength etc. but this shouldn't put you off as you're doing it for the music! no pain no game mothaphucka!

there is too much information on the web, and tbh with you i would only buy a book if you can't be arsed to read tutorials/tabs from your computer screen.
