its the old DW-U14A and i wanna d/load some new firmware and ive heard about these upgrades to make it into a U510 is this possible please help out cheers

As any flashing of your ROM Chip that goes wrong will mean your drive is fooked.

what does it do? i mean what does it mean when it says upgrades to a 510? whats so good bout a 510? cheers mate

Well the 510 as far as I can remember was meant to have a faster burning speed. So upgrading the Firmware was meant to increase your drives burning speed. But I would suggest againt doing this as its not always worked out for the best.

yeah i was kinda aware of the risks but at the mo a can get a 108 pioneer for something like 40 quid! so not too much to loose if ya get me

i dunno if the whole process worked mate its just a big pilke of wank think im gonna get a 109 this week mate just got em in for something like £48 all inc!! i fucking hate computers. when i said it works i meant it works as if i didnt even do the hack. cheers tho mate!

LOL. Exactly mate. Good luck with the purchase. Most DVD writers are reasonably priced now days anyways. Untill when Blue Ray is out which is quite some time then you wont be losing any money.
