Yesterday me n will went to bradford to visit a few audio shops for oxygen, we were 100 yards from the first shop in dewsbery when i got pulled, for tints. just before they did the test on the windows one of them started looking around the car and checking tyres 
as most of you know i'm waiting for my 18's, should have been here like tuesday so i've been putting off buying new tyres for the 17's when i'm just selling them.
windows got tested, 21.9%, oops.
was told to put front wheels on full lock so they could look at the threadbare inside edges of the tyres  oops
then i had to sit in the police car for like 40 mins while they went round and checked almost everything on my car, missed a few things tho  haha
ended up with a prohibitation notice, saying i had to go straight to kwik fit for 2 new tyres and then drive home with windows down.
never got a fine or points slip, but not sure if that will come later.
so we proceeded to the ice shops and drove home, with bald tyres and windows up
any idea if i will get points and a fine? thougth they were issued on the spot?

did they not issue u with a producer or something???? if not then they have no other way of checking that you have actually changed the tyres and got your tints removed.
I would be inclined to ring the copshop to makesure that the police didnt forget to give you your producer slip and failure to attend may result in you getting bum raped

i asked where i would produce my documents coz i was from out of the area and he said that he doubted i'd be driving a 52 reg corsa without documents!
i have the prohibitation notice that i have to take to a hgv testing station without tints and new tyres!

haha thought u wud put a post up bout this neil, i was bored a fcuk sitting in the car when u were in the cop car coz u had the keys the windows were down it were frezzing and i cudnt put the radio on ha,
as for points theres no way they can do u for that now mate aslong as you produce ur car with tints removed and new tyres at that place in darlo u will be fine, lol think we will wait a while b4 we take u down to that shop agen lol

it says on the back og the prohibitation notice that i can still be reported and prosecuted for the offences.
we had driven 100 miles to get there and were 100 yards from the shop

There was a thread somewhere earlier about window tints,can you not just take the front two out
Swap your wheels with a mate for the day saves money

18's were meant to be here on tuesday thats y i've been putting off buying new tyres!
i heard its easier to swap windows than take the tints off, leaves loads of glue n crap!

well change the windows then swap them back
an if anyones got any 17s you can borrow for a day if your 18s dont turn up in time then do that

i suppose if i was a copper id prefare to checkout a modifyed car than actually do work like catching robbers and stuff

tints is one thing but driving on bald tyres is plain stupid imho. hazzard to other road users and so forth.

Am I right in saying that if your tyre is bald on the inside it isnt illegal as long as at least 3/4 of the rest of the tyre is of legal depth

From the sound of it, the rest of the tyre was probably fucked as well
Willay i agree, but see his point about getting new wheels which were meant to be here, so trying to save forking out £150 or whatever on new tyres

only inside rim was bald, rest of the tyre was fine, never use the car neway tbh.
