Rust, cracked B pillars, Rust. when the timing belt was last changed, whether the tyres are evenly worn, whether it is bent... HPI check?

What to look for........
Engine
Like most Vauxhall power plants, the Ecotec 1.6 litre unit is an absolute gem. It should idle smoothly, and spin up through the rev range with light-hearted ease. Lumpy idle means something is amiss with the rather complex induction or emissions control system, and will require a diagnostic session to sort out. Any rattles or smoke, or in fact oil in the coolant and vice versa, are warning you the alloy head's suffering from the attentions of a lead foot. Look for another car.
Transmission
Vauxhall gearboxes are rubbery but strong, but a jerky driveline or gear noise means someone's not been topping up the gearbox oil, and the 'box's innards could be knackered.
Suspension
The Corsa has horrible suspension. But this is because the components are simple. Anyone in their right mind will want uprated bushes, dampers and springs to make the damn thing go round corners. If the car's saggy, get some money off and laugh all the way to Bilstein, AVO, Koni or Spax.
Brakes
Thanks to reasonable font discs and ABS, the Corsa GSi stops well. The rear drums are prone to seizing and leaky cylinders mind, so if it's squeaky a session of hand dirtying and the perusal of a Haynes manual will be necessary. Check for badly lipped discs or the juddering of warped discs. Brake upgrades are not hard to come by.
Interior
It ain't all that pretty, but it does wear well. Check for worn bolsters. If the driver's seat is knackered with a very low idicated mileage, someone's probably been meddling with the mileometer. Check for excessive wear on the steering wheel rim, gearknob and pedals too.
Identity
Identity VIN numbers are viewable through the windscreen on the nearside front edge of the dash. There's another on the slam panel. Check these match up. Also check for signs of tampering.
Bodywork
The Corsa is a well-built little car, and should under no circumstances show structural rot. Rusty door and tailgate bottoms speak of neglected blocked drain holes. Decomposing wheelarches or C pillars are telling you the car's been smacked up more often than Motley Crue on tour. Run away.
