Was very tempted to buy my self a G4 Powerbook with MS Office installed but was wondering if I worked of say a excel sheet on my work PC could I then take it home and use it with the Mac and vice-versa? Any help would be apreciated

Yes, because you're using MS Office on both they're completely compatible.
