Got my smoked MHW rears today that I bought off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7949566543
Opened the box to find that both are damaged - cracked with large pieces snapped off
To be honest, the packaging could have been better, but still, they must have been chucked around / dropped to cause this much damage
Whats the best thing to do? Contact the seller and ask for my money back? or try and claim for them via Royal Mail? They were sent 1st class recorded so should be covered
Whats the retail value of these, and who sells them brand new?

The seller has to make the claim and first class recorded will only cover up to £28. He should have sent them standard parcel with compensation added.

In fact no, I've just checked the postage. For £8 it should have been sent special delivery, next day covered up to £250. Contact the seller who will have to fill out the forms and make the claim. Do not leave any feedback till he sorts it out..good luck

If it was a signed for delivery, then you should have signed for it before you took delivery of the parcel....
..but with Recorded, you're only covered up to £28 and it'll take you weeks to get that from them. Enjoy your 12 first class stamps they also insult you with.

Unless he took out the insurance it'll be covered to £28, any extra is upto you to request when you buy it.
Were they wrapped seperately or together and allowed to bash together?

There is no worry's you will get your £££ back mate i aint no cnut
But was thinking
I send you another parcel( with no value to content) at the same weight but get it done on special next day del with insurance covered you then send this box back with the rears in it i can then claim for full amount
Fu$king post office didnt tell me it was ONLY covered to £28
But if you was to send back to me as special del ect you could claim for this as well + have the money 1 and going to re fund

The claims for insurance with special delivery are a bit tricky, in the case of a claim they can ask for the parcel for proof of damage and to determine whether it was the fault of them or bad packaging.

Someone had the same attitude towards Northampton Royal Mail.. they burnt the depot down
I've had empty envelopes being delivered... they started off with contents! That's how fucking low RM staff are - they open the letter, see it's not of any interest to them and then just stick the empty envelope through your letter box!! Like, WTF!
