Well im getting a new car, have about £3000 to spend. Problem is i was going to get a 98 Civic Coupe SR. I had a quote of £1250, but they slapped a huge penalty for paying monthly, £250 to be exact , which i think you'll agree is stupid... And i cant afford that. Now i could either step back and get a Civic 1.5 VTEC hatch and pay quite a lot still... Or i had another idea...

Buy a cheapish 1.4 Sport, and insure it for 10 months (Bonus accelerator) for £600, then stick a XE in it at the end. In that time i could prepare it for the 2 ltr.

What do you think? Or maybe suggest another car?

EG's are way to much to insure... I dunno why but they are 2 grps higher on average than an EK. Also being a VTi its gonna cost more than the coupe...

Its not so much a case of saving... Im a student, and yeah i do work, but i couldnt afford to pay out that much in insurance each month. With the corsa i can just pay the insurance in one big chunk as it isnt that much. I think this is only going one way... Oh well at least in 10 months ill be 20 with 1 years ncb, and i should be able to insure the XE ok i think.

ur find out that a vti is about the same as a xe corsa with all the luxuries of it feeling comfortable where as a corsa going that quick aint. just take a loan out to pay for the isurance then u wont have to pay the 250 insetad just the intrest.
plus i guarantee ur spend more on fixing the corsa than u will on civic.

The civic i was going to get was not a VTi it was an SR, a SOHC VTEC, not the DOHC version, the B16. And im not taking out a loan... Im a student, im already in debt. Plus that huge quote wasn't even FC, i feel a little better getting a corsa again actually, already had one so i know enough about them.
