to me that makes no sense

but still Tools > Internet Options > Connections > "choose connection" > [Set As Default]

I'm noo computer whizz nathan lad

basically when i click a link, IE5 comes on rather than the page opening in aol broadband

He wants the AOL broswer to be default.
It'll be an option within the AOL software, or try Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults.
