how do they make visuliser things from music programs? any explination i can come up with would result in the same pattern for the same song...

Some of the ones in media player don't move with the music they repeat or do you mean the graphic equilizer ones?

id say it registers a frequency, and then does an effect that registers to that prequency, the volume of that frequency determines the size/speed of hte pattern
