why do people refer to 16v lumps such as the c20xe as a valver?

i always called 16v engines valver, as it has more valves.

Ie: Saxo VTR and VTS, one is a valver imo

AFAIK it started from the Nova conversions where all standard engines were 8v and no-one bothered to fit the 16XE small blocks.
