I know its a bit off topic, but I'm after a better digital camera cos mine is about on its last legs. I'm also interested in getting into photography but just as a hobby and as vibs, icy etc. are into it, i thought i'd try here first.
Any recommendations for digital cameras ?? What sort of pixel quality should i look at getting ?? I'm only a student, so can't afford a fancy camera, but i don't really need anything fancy cos i haven't really got a clue about proper photography. Any websites you could recommend i look at that might help a beginner would be appreciated !!

Not too sure what i want to take really, possibly start with my mates cars, possibly at night. Budget wise, i was looking at £250/300

you'll get a decent camera, tripod and memory card for £300 even if it's a last years model.
should be able to get a fuji S7000 or Fuji FinePix S20 Pro for £310 but that would not leave you any thing left. tripod could be bought for £20 and a bigger memory card for £50. canon S60 is a nice camera too which would be my preference. £254 from ebuyer. get a 1gig CF card and a tripod. you can get a teleconverter for the camera too

cheers for that. I might be able to persuade me dad 2 get a tripod, cos he wants one for his video camera !! I'll look into the canon because i've had a fuji finepix before and fancy something different. I assume it's just a case of practice to get the the pics right ??

just save £300 and buy a throw away , free processing too for a bargain price of £4.99 from max speilman

Yes,you can get a lot of info from dpreview.com,my friend just bought a Kodak DX7590 5Mp, 10x Optical zoom ,512mb card(400quid).Think it's one of the best in its class.
