Author how difficult is it to fit a 1.2 8v?

current 1.2 8v engine has blown at 111k.Been quoted £150 for fitting a new one in, how hard is this to do? I have no experince with engines, me mate has though...not alot

is it just a matter of connecting stuff up? and would i need to hire a crane?

Old engine out, new engine in. You need to unbolt the gearbox, all the coolent pipes and disconnect the wiring. It is actually quite a simple job to do... Just need a trolly jack to lowenr the enginue out of the bay, though a crane makes lif a lot easier.

I took mine out of the top of the bay. it fits JUST!

other than that simple job, put a new lcuth on while u r there its out after all. oh and a cam belt

will the hanyes manual tell me how to fit a clutch as i has no idea

would take me about 3-4 hours max

dependong on if anything was seized etc

If you're taking a 1.2 8v out, put something that's at least an increase back in. 1.4 8v, or even a 1.0 12v

dont need a crane for a 1.2, just keep undoing things till you hear a bump, then pick the engine up off the floor, fling it in the back of your mates GTE and dump it outside the local Scrappies
