right not meaning to sound like a pleb but come someone put me out me missery and tell me what all these engines are and what cars they come from i.e xe,let,ne??? (sure theres others as well)

xe, thats what people call the c20xe/20xe engines that come from mk2 and 3 astra gte and gsi, also in the cav gsi and the 16v cav sri. and the calibra 16v.
the let, what people call the c20let engine found in the cav turbo and calibra turbo.
ne, the 8v sri engine from the 8v mk2 astar gte and the 8v cav sri

yes... but we also have 'XE' engines  just not 'C'20XE's...

The next letter (X) is the engine compression ratio, in this case X = 10.0 to 11.5. The letter E is the fueling system, which E = multi-point fuel injection (petrol).

paul i know the x16xe is an xe but people dont refer to it as an xe really.

Likewise if someone refers to an engine as a "valver" or "red top" then its the 20XE engine they're talking about.
If they mean another engine, but they're using the above terms, feel free to bitchslap them and diss them big stylee.
There are other "red top" engines but we don't talk about them.
