£20 for the cable. Mechanic wudnt rip me off he told me exactly what he does everytime and is someone i no. He said he had to take of part the engine lower mounts, battery, strip out the dash bit etc

i dont think so, seems a bit fishy that!
im sure its much much easier than that, RAC guy did it to a 1.4 16v in like 15/20 mins!

£133 for fitting a speedo cable.
It is fiddly but I'm not quite sure it would be that difficult from underneath working in a pit or under a ramp.

he said it took 3 hours and Gsi engine there is no room, took me a hour to take out the battery once.

Dunno what it's like on the Corsa but on the Astra it's a piece of piss. Wouldn't have thought it would be much difference?
Although I guess there is more room in the Astra engine bay than in the Corsa, unless you have a gay engine like a 1.2 8v...
