Drove into college carpark at about 10.15 today and some idiot on a scooter nearly hit the side of me, then i pulled off and next thing i heard a bang where he hit my back passenger side. Jumper out very pissed off and saw him lying on the ground uninjured. Looked at damage and luckaly he missed all the body work and just ripped mudflap off and scraped my alloy. He got up and i asked his name and took a note of that and the no. plate but he says he is uninsured and has no licence. I told him I want £100 cash tomorrow morning to refurbish alloy and replace mudflap and he agreed but he had a funny atitude. Anyway it should be on college cctv and i have told the guy i dont want to get police involved as it was only take longer and since he aint insured I will prolly end up having to pay for the damage myself. College car park is private as well i think but took the bike owners details as well but mainly just wanna know if i should call the cops if he doesnt pay tomorrow, since your allowed 24hrs to report it I should be alright. Think I have done the right thing?
sorry for the essay!

Sounds like he's not safe to be on the roads, report him to the police.

We all have to pay insurance, he's no exception.

^^ Deffo call the police. He needs to be sorted out. If he thinks nothing of driving a scooter uninsured, whats to say he wont do the same with a car??
Get the cops in, and give the boy a damn good slap as well.

cant do him for no insurance as he was on private ground, have to hope he coughs up and if he doesnt theres still nothing you can do about it, unless possible criminal damage charge

If it has public access, the law applies.

Most places would tall you wher eto go as theres usually a "Cars and contents left at owners risk" sign about.

If however, your on a supermarket car park and a stray trolley hits your car you can claim as they should have collected it once it was left: Hence the reason loads of companies now have the pound coin system for getting a trolley .

tis private land tread carefully and he could say u was trying to blackmail him into paying cash otherwise u go to pigs.... all depends on how much of a cunt he wants to be - if he dont pay up maybe one day his scooter will fall over and smash up a bit by chance...
