i would guess you send them your updated V5 and they'll send you a bill for the difference.

You send the V5 out and they send you a bill for the extra you owe. Read what it says on the back of the document

Think you will need to send the old disc away and wait for the money off they and in the mean time buy more tax.

I got mine done just the other day. Found my local DVLA office and took all the papers you need. The list...

V5 logbook (put changes in changes section)
V70 form (which you can print off the web - this is for changes in tax etc)
Old Tax disc
Insurance cover note
MOT certificate

They took my old tax disc off me, gave me a new one and I had to pay the difference (£27.50 for 6 months ish) and they took my V5 off me and sent it off to Swansea head office where it will be altered and sent back to home address in the post.

Im pretty sure than unless you car is correctly down with the DVLA your insurance is null/void even if its insured as 20XE etc...

May aswell forget the insurance then and save yourself even more cash

If your tax is incorrect, and yours is, it would invalidate your insurance because your car is not properly licensed for road use.

The onus is on you to give them correct info... At the end of the day your only looking to pay an extra £60 per anum which is nothing really in the world of proper car modding. By dodging the correct tax your invalidating your insurance and technically driving illegally with the wrong tax...

I'd get it sorted mate.
