after one of these for the misses...

Budget is £500-700MAX

What they like at this age? what should i be looking for when viewing one? any common faults with them?

Went on parkers and they value a basic 1996 1.1 106 with average millage for £1200 so would offering £500 for 1991 and £700 for a 1993-1994 be fair? reason im asking is parkers dont do valuations for under 1996.

Floor it in 1st up to about 25 MPH (will scream like a bitch), clutch in and brake. Allow then engine to settle down and idle. If it's struggling to stay alive then there's a fucked sensor somewhere.

From a warm start, start the engine. If you need gas to start it then again there's a fucked sensor somewhere.

Check the reverse gear from a little drive. If you have to be a bit rough with it then the gear box is fucked (seems very common in Pugs)

Check the steering lock is not tight, if it is then the key barrel is going fucked.

Check the bulbs under the Speedo work if you can. You have to remove the whole dash to get to them.

Main prob is with the sensors as they are a bitch to find and half the time report to be find on Pugs computer.

Great little cars though, I would love to find a 51 plate somewhere in a compound brand new. I would just have to buy it.
