i'd melted through one of my power steering pipes because i tied the pump to the engine lifting eye.
the corregated ally heat protective shit had got a bit battered and wasn't in the best condition, and the pipe had been sat against the exhaust manifold creating two lovely holes in the pipe from branch's 2&3.
priced the new pipe up at vauxhall, and they wanted £107 for it. 
took it to a local hose/pipe specialist firm to see if they could patch it up, and i've just been back to collect it. 
looks like a quality job. they've put an extra join in it so it's easier to re-fit, replaced the rubber section with all new, and put some heat reflective glass cloth around it.
pretty happy with the results. still quite expensive, but £50 is a whole deal better than £107, so no biggie.
