wtf is the point in crushing the cars though?

The person thats bought a £50 banger and got caught that is likely to be a problem is just going to buy another banger.

The cars should be auctioned off and the money put to a fund against uninsured drivers!

i really dont see the point,

they buy a car for say 50-100 quid,

if they insurdd it it will be 500+, but they drive without insurance, IF they get caught, they get a fine, which is means tested. so will be feck all if they dont earn allot. and they loose the car.

they will just go buy another car.

The problems not the car but the people driving them and the system!

I can see both sides to this argument. A way around this could be for the new buyer to have to produce evidence of insurance before they can drive the car away from the auction. All you need to do is to get the insurance company to fax something to the auction and then your away.

The best bit was where one guy said people where going down the scrap yards to buy cars for £50 - £60

There was 2 options, on for them to take the car away and crush it or you can pay storage and tow, and then pick the car up when you have insurance.

I think this should be done all over the country. I know an 18 year old girl who just drives around. I think the car is in one of her sisters names And she flys around, seen her today, must have been doing at least 40 in a 30.

There was a guy at my work who used to drive with no tax, insurance or MOT... the amount of times i considered putting his name forward to get done was unreal... i could never actually do it though as the fines are so high.

ALthough i did keep thinking it serves him right, i then think of his kids etc, its harsh but fair i guess.

If you walk on thin ice all day long one day its going to break.
