Does anyone on here have an old style mini? Im thinking of buying one next year to keep in the garage, and use occasionaly. just something to play about with.
I was just wondering if anyone on CS had one, and if they're easy for someone whos not too 'mechanically minded' to work on!

My mate has a 1340cc mini, keeps it in the garage and wanted it for somthing to "play about with" just like you.
He says its the worst thing hes ever done.
Paid £1750 for the car, in total over nearly 2 years hes spent roughly £4000 on the car.
I dont know if it just him having not much luck with the car or mini's are generally like this, but this has really put me off having one!
If you really want a mini though, get a really well looked after cooper, and dont buy a mini that looks nice on the outside but is a bag of bollacks on the inside (like my mate done)

my gf has a 1996 mini cooper 1.3 so far its had sportspack arches, ICE install, sportspac wheels, chipped/remapped ecu, head work, decat/exhaust, sports coil/plugs/leads, s/s exhaust manifold, induction kit.
it has a a fair bit of work done but i have helped her with a lot of the work and they are good fun to work on, restore and then rag about, they quite nippy too, quick of the mark.
i'd get one mate, good fun and youll learn loads from doing it
