You can't ride a crosser on the road, you want an enduro bike...

could get a 125cc, which would cost about £400 to insure, the CBT will cost about £100 then you can ride it on the road with L plates, the lesons are about £20 an hour and the test costs the same as a car. It is hard, you need to be a lot more aware than in a car, but it will make you a better driver.

my cousins DR125 out accelerates my 1200 8v with piss-taking ease. But then, so does a tractor

if you want a bike for 'fun', get an offroader, and take it off road.

Road riding is for sensible people. Unless you want to die.

certainly makes you much more aware and a better driver.

however, on a note that would contradict my above comments completely, ( ) when ive bin out into the country with my cousin, his 125 leaves me for dust, completely, until it tops out at around 60, whehn i could just about get past if i needed, on a long straight.
They are as quick as you could possibly want and need with your riding experience.

you havent had over 100mph out of an aprillia rs125. But your right in saying cornering is much more fun on a bike.

Seeing as the road is a 4 mile long straight on a slight downslope I think it is possible, especially as they can be tuned easily.

official figures are about 93mph top end, if its de-ristricted, but official figures are always a bit on the modest side

I had stage 3 tuned RD125, which hit an indicated 110mph. They are nippy but by no means quick. Im going back down the bike route again, taking direct access on a crash course, where you can ride anything. Then go out and buy a 400 road bike. Much more fun, and although only a 400 it will be the quickest accelerating thing you will have ever driven!
