What would happen if I took my old (mint looking) Air Flow Meter into a vauxhall dealership? Is there anyway I could get them to test whether it was working correctly? and do you think they would happily swap it with a working one?

It's just I think (but am not 100% sure) My current Air Flow Meter is on the way out, as its acting gay like my old one did before I replaced it...

This is what my car was running like before I replaced my AFM last time...

and this is what it was running like after I replaced it...

and then it's just been getting progressively worse since the above pic and now feels the same / worse than it did when the first pic was taken!!!

This means if I bought a new AFM, I'd have 2 now which are laying about... Note I do not have a engine management light on at all?!

I'd get a diagnositc check on my car, but last time I asked them about that they tried charging me £76 for it!!! (I think the girl may of been drugged or made a mistake though )

So, anyone know if there's anyway of checking whether a Air Flow Meter is ok, or buggered and whether vaux can check it / replace it?

Thanks,

Paul J

been posted before... Seriously I want to sort my car out as its running really crap at the moment, mapping feels all over the place when I drive it and it splutters now too sometimes... I nearly got hit today by a motorbike who had a go at me when my car started cutting out in the middle of a roundabout ... (he pulled up along side me at the lights and said... "YOU NEARLY FUCKING HIT ME ... DO THAT AGAIN AND I'LL KNOCK YOUR HEAD OFF" - I just was thinking Whatever mate... it was you that nearly hit me as my car was dying in the middle of the roundabout lol...

How much are new AFM's?

How about going to Vauxhall and buying a new AFM, then taking your old one back the next day and saying you don't need it now

Hehe, I said to him 'Hehe, I know how it is, I have a Aprilia RS' - he said 'I don't care what you have'

I also found out that I'm on my final warning at work for speeding through the car park / on site (Windsor Lego Land) and they've noted my number plate (although it was other's doing it too, it was my loud exhaust that got the attention grr... )

apparently, one more offence and I will be banned for the staff car park meaning I'll have to walk in I had a guy from security saying the other day 'ah. your the guy who constantly drives his car around at 7k rpm' - I was thinking 'ok mate, whatever you bellend...' It's just because my exhaust is loud even driving at 10 mph sounds fast (esepcially in 1st gear)... In reality I don't even take my car over 5800 rpm as there is no power there at all

They can be tested, any garage with Autodata books and a multimeter can look up what they should read and have a look if its within tolerance.

Ah but ian, they can be tested... but will they test it?

i.e. if I drove to vauxhall tommorrow - walked into the spare part bit and said 'Hey I just wondered if I could get this tested to see if it was working properly' whether they actually would, or they'd laugh and send me packing...
