hey, i need tips on making a false floor im intending on having it set on small blocks so cables can run below etc but what thickness and type of wood should i use?

iv some 1cm thick ply here i think il use it as its available!! its not that big a expanse to go over so shud be ok and will deffo be solid!

these all look pretty nice, did u have an easy way of getting the shape right? looks like a bit of a trial and error job to me

mke a perfect cardboard template first and then go from there

and make sure its perfecty - as cardboard isnt expensive -but if u trim too much off the timber - u'll have to strt all over again - remember measure twice(or more) do checks and cut once.
If nething Id say cut it 5mm too big - u can always sand it to shape or perfect fit after
only thing I cant figure out is how these floors are fastened down - theres no visible blots or screws - and in an accident I wouldnt like to rely solely on the mass of the thing keeping it in place

if the false floor is a tight fit then it shouldnt move at all, so u should be fine if u ever have an accident

have u seen the forces which act on a car in an accident - Ive seen a 14 stone man rip through a seatbelt and be thrown out of the side window - which was closed during a 4 roll crash - and then have the car thrown on top of him - personally wouldnt trust having an unsecure mass of wood behind my head-the torsion forces acting on the car could alter the shape of the car enough to relese it and then u lose ur head - but if ur gonna trust it fair play to u
also the same with ttaching 3 point harnesses to the upper seat belt mount in the 3/4 panel - if u get hit from behingand the back of the car crumples - ur going out the windscreen

If i was to do something like that I wud want it to be bolted down or at least anchored correctly to something!

fair comment m8, i suppose its down to how much u trust it, same as people who attach their harnesses to alluminium rollcages, i think its crazy, but lots of peeps do it

my harnesses will be attached to the origanal rear seat belt points, so that the 2 bootm ones for four point harnesses. and as afr as the mdf floor is mines bolted down in 10 places, it wont move if the car crumbles from behind itwill just break in sections as there is 10 of them lining the back (i had saftey in mind for all of it lol)

thats what Im saying - make sure its safe; both for u and ur passengers - Im a car modifier like most of the people on this site - but it pisses em off when I see unsecure, unsafe, illegal and damn right stupid mods in the name of aesthetics - if ur gonna modify a car do it properly and do it safely - looks a million times better
