Pay's ok, Shift patterns, and social life are not
I applied and sat some of the tests then spoke to a guy whose wife was in the force and had just left him for another copper - Changed my mind about the whole thing.
Be prepared to work on your days off and for your mates to be other police officers

Why Do you actually know the conditions??? also its not just a matter of joining its a 6 part application which takes about 3 months to secure a position on a waiting list, or an offer to become a special (unpaid weekend work)
Im glad I didnt take it any further

I understand completely whats involved.
I did my work experience with the police and decided then its what i want to do.
Ppl have mixed opinions about the Police, i saw that when i worked with 2 of the guys for a bit, and they get alot of crap which they dont deserve, and have to do shit loads of paperwork.
But hey, its what i want to do and im 100% im going to get there

colin, so are many other jobs, but few are as rewarding as being a police officer. Cant imagine the delight of catching a little scumbag burglar, or a twocer. I watch those programs which follows coppers around on the beat, and it looks like fun. Especially traffic police. Police seem to spend an awful lot of time locking up pissed up glaswegians, as they roll out of the clubs at 2am.
