YO ma homie's check dis.......



Been spraying with cans, and have sanded down handles and boot lock real smooth (orange peel all gone) then plastic primed, then filler primer, and then paint. Have sanded inbetween and all was going lovely....

then sanded paint to a matt finish, and laquered, but paint looks crap underneath the laquer from sanding, like its too sanded and looks scuffed...

did it with 1200 grit and lots of water.....

dont think ur ment to sand atall on paint, did u clean surface 1st ? get some pics

if surface is okay geezer once sprayed dont need to sand down before laquer

u actually ARE meant to rub it down so it looks matt before applying laquer

but i tried this many time n got same effect as he says then didnt just sprayed laquer and it came out sweet

You shoud rub it down with 1200 then clean it with meths - water or anything else is not enough... Then Laquer.

Cos thats the way I do it, dunno why though... My paint comes out pretty well. I don't do it all iver though, just where theres an imperfection. I'll try without next time though...

If you are actually using metallic paint it should go on flat, (matt), you then put the lacquer on after like 10 - 15 minutes or so, so that the lacquer binds with the paint.

only thing ive ever laqured is my bonnet when it was black and it fucked up so i cant really say

i dont bother laquering anything, and b4 every1 starts shouting, after 3 years my paint is still spot on an dont need it

I think another reason you rub down the base coat before applying clearcoat is to get rid of any bad areas, ie. dust etc. Because once the lacquer is on you can't do shit about the base coat.

at marv, not that i know anything about paint etc, but that seems odd to me

must get this laquer thing sorted out, gonna experiment and see what happens....

gotta get boot sprayed.........with cans

Koni's guide says nothing about rubbing down before laquer
