Why do some people put their full beam on when you overtake them at night and dazzle the fcuk out of you?

ok so im thinking here that they are considering your ovetaking manouvre as dangerous, so they put their lights on full beam and dazzle the fcuk out of you thus creating a greater hazard?

Thats different though on the motorway, i mean they flash each other to show that their trailer is clear and that its safe to pull back in.

There is a 2 mile stretch of B road near me, long straight with a light bend half way down, No junctions or anything. Everytime i overtake someone down there, the full beam comes on? why ffs why?

can understand the truck drivers doing it to one another.
Its just when you overtake someone and your not even going over the speedlimit, pisses me right off.

i end up doing something back ie...apply fog lights, brake, and then drive at 10mph and don't let them past they soon turn their lights down. then i put foot down and go.

i get this all the time at night on the m/ways.

can't figure out why they do it??

admittedly i do occasionally drive with full beams on where theres only catseyes, so i can get a better view of the road ahead.

But i make sure my full beams are off when approaching another car.

Its a form of road rage for people who don't have the nerve to chase and shout things

Last guy who flashed me for my driving I boxed in and got out to explain that if he ever came to Merseyside I'd hope none of the locals there made allowances for his indecision. He was most apologetic
