if carlsberg did updates.......

wonder if input shaft seal is the same on f20 as f28.......possibly not.

its amazing when checking the bearing numbers of all the bearings in the f28 which ones became obsolete in 1997. even the larger of the 2 diff bearings isnt available until april next year and thats not even guarantee'd. its on order. will see if it turns up. i got spare diff bearings anyway that are good enough to use for now.

i believe geeeeebox casing has been welded up read to drill and tap for the mount. so should have the piece of shit car working again on saturday. need to order a new abs sensor for the ecu to read speed from then hopefully can get better 60ft's than 2.6 seconds.

ok ma.

If you've ordered the tax then you've nothing to worry about Nic.

they'll always be a bearing available no matter how old it is, we rebuild 60year old machines and theres always an equivlent bearing just some bearing manufactors are too lazy to help/look.

some more amazing saturday afternoon fixing type stuff happening. start off with mate stevie's revo'd something remapped ibiza cupra.

jdm then got slick to fire it on the rollers for his first ever attempt at opperating the rolling road. its all good fun.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpv_vgvQ7uw

stevie's car made 230bhp it think it was and 270lb/ft. one of the smoothest power curves ive seen on a revo remap in ages. it has a different turbo to std on it. i dont know much about dubz 4 lyf type cars so ive no idea what it is.

anyway some boring corsa work.

bottom bolt hole of casing smashed off

top part of casing bolt hole smashed off completely. nice work that indeed.

thats my old gearbox that had also cracked so got bits welded in to make it stronger hopefully. i guess a lot of people will question doing something like that but hey whatever. if it saves me removing the gearbox due to the casing cracking, then im fine with it.

mtec short shift linkage thing built up. fuckin thing pissed me off. more about that later on.

had to split old gearbox to remove the diff to fit into my gearbox. only managed to get the smaller diff bearing due to unforseen issues. so fitted that and fitted the larger one off the std diff as looked better than mine.

great. so then built the box up and fitted it back into the car

delightful. then fitted the tie bar lowering block things

absolutely for the win.

then came the torture. the pain, the agony and annoyance. the mtec short shift thing, well, its impossible to set up. it just wont get all the gears properly. for starters it fouled on the bolts on the engine mount. then it became near impossible to get 5th. then it wouldnt go into reverse or 6th. then it would get everything apart from reverse. ive no idea whats going on. spent maybe hour and a half slackening a 13mil bolt while my mate slick sat in the car and positioned it. we can normally set the gears up first go. so it became a frustration. infact so much so we had to quit.

so tomorrow, going to have another go setting the linkage up. if i cant. im going to weld a 10mil bit into the std linkage and fire that in. its a proper shame as the short shift really does feel a lot closer together.

yeah well its all sorted now. works and stuff. took ages messing on with that gear linkage. where the metal rod goes on to the top ball on the gearbox end of linkage it was fouling on there causing the linkage to lock up while trying to get reverse. got that bit bent a bit out the way and now it seems to work.

sits better in the bay slightly with the rear spacer in.
