like fuck id let mine go for 5k or less. no fuckin chance. optimistically or not, i could sell the engine alone for probably 5k+

As a full car yours is still probably worth 5k no matter how high the spec, but if you split it for parts it would be worth more. Its the same with all modified cars, unless they are undisputed classics they are worth more in parts if you have spent a lot changing them.

Simple intuition and a grasp of auction techniques/etiquette tells you it's bidded up.

Are you so naive that you think people only know others in their own town or immediate vacinity?

people just wont accept that the bids got to the price it did by people who the seller has had no previous dealings with, regardless of what people thinks its worth.

stick it back up mate, its worth what its worth at the end of the day,
you do need to swallow it a bit tho and lower the reserve as your obviously looking at near 10k which just isnt going to happen,
that would mean you have got back near half what you put into the car which just isnt possible when you modify (especially with a car like yours)
you will be looking for a long time to find the right buyer at near 10k BUT (before you bite my head off)...
i think its certainly worth 7k after reading this thread and now seeing just how 'mint' it really is,
so, put it back on the bay with a smaller reserve and you never know, people may go mad with it!
coz thats the problem with a high reserve you get people bidding for fun just to see what it is!
(all in my opinion of course).
