Im a very competent driver but I got caught out ona pacth of black ice one mornign and ran into the back of another car in the old 106... accidents happen, hence why they are called accidents!
I know youve said people will be prepared to pay to fix etc but would they really be happy if, say, you rolled it and totally wrote it off and £5k down the drain 
And I agrtee £3k is mad too, but then the idea is that you build up to these cars

Thats the supidest comment i've heard....do you have any idea how many uninsured drivers there are out on the roads?
All its going to take it someone to drive into you and you are screwed.
I've been hit twice by an uninsured driver and been lucky enough to have fully comp.
Basically dont buy a car if you can afford to insure it properly. Teggys have high running costs too so you got that to look forwards to.

i considered going third party then saw sense would rather pay a bit more money the first year cos knowing my luck id write it off if i wasnt fully comp
