The K or Ba Baa are pretty special places if you want to hear scouse house

i will agree that nightlife (Bar Cava is decent) in the 'pool is pretty good, you can always expect some popcorn moments when the clubs shut

Agreed with bar baa though and the after-hours entertainment moments like lass's sitting down, legs a-kimbo with their wizards sleeve on show makes liverpool a very special place

My name is Stuart Maconie and I am from the north of England. Some time ago, I was standing in my kitchen, rustling up a Sunday brunch for some very hungover, very northern mates who were 'down' for the weekend. One of them was helping me out and, recipe book in hand, asked: "Where are the sun-dried tomatoes?"

"They're behind the cappuccino maker," I replied.

'Silence fell. We slowly met each other's gaze. We did not say anything. We did not need to. Each read the other unspoken thought: we had become those kinds of people, the kind of people who had sun-dried tomatoes and cappaccino makers, the kind of people who did Sunday brunch. In other words: southerners.'

Taken from:

Pies & Prejudice - In Search Of The North

Read this book it's amazing, not one sided & very funny

Joking aside I really do prefer the north

Beer is cheaper, food is cheaper, hell everything is cheaper! The idea that anything inside the M25 gets the price bumped up is rather odd, the fact that some people seem proud of that is even stranger. Has a certain level of snootiness about it

I can drive to work, in any size engined car, with hardly any traffic, go past no speed cameras & then park somewhere all day for 3 quid. I don't have to pay to enter a city/town/road/area

I decide I want a drink, I go intop a shop/bakery. Starbucks galore down south, and yet more overpricing. I can just go to a Greggs or Cooplands or some whitty named cafe (Big bapps springs to mind) & talk to some cheery woman who clearly drinks in a club on a weekend & goes t' coast for holidays

It doesn't mean she's poor, she's just got charachter & is funny & basically not southern. I challange anyone to travel the length of the country (Whittie) & go into every services. People get mardier as you go down south. Watford Gap is the major turning point.

The UK would be a very differant place without the norths hard work, and nowhere as rich as it is today. I think peoples history of Manchester & Liverpool's history is a bit sketchy at best.

Corination street IS better than Eastenders - FACT

As for accents, there is no right or wrong. People with "no accent" are basically boring. People from darn sarf with cockney accents may sound like samfink out the queen vik on the square (Hi JR) but it's nice to be able to identify where there from.....even if you can't understand a word

Same with the north

Scouse, geordie, lancashire & yorkshire. All quite funny but again you can identify them easily enough. I do think northern ones have got all the best accents though

Anyway Im bored of writing now North FTW!
