fk do i know everyones different, theres no set rules to dating etc. guys liek different things in a lass, and lasses like different things in a guy. as i said, some people like to be chased and feel wanted, others like a guy to play hard to get and makes them want him more

i want a gf but have no confidence to go out and get one...
i love to go out clubbing and things and meeting new people, but i h8 ppl meeting me and not liking me...
my self confidence is so fucking non existant and i find it hard to keep eye contact with women because i feel like such an ugly bastard
Lack of confidence is not a good thing to be chasing women with!! Self confidence & how you handle yourself around people without being cocky is what will make you sink or swim as far as 1st impressions go.
I've got to agree with Kolin, how can you expect a woman to be impressed by you, if your not impressed by yourself. The confidence you have shines through, whatever front you put on - if your un-confident it will show. If you FEEL confident and good, you'll have more chance of projecting that.
The thing is, I believe some of you need to take a look at your life and think - what is wrong? why do I lack confidence, what is holding me back and what can I do to change this.
Even if you were lucky enough to get a g/f right now, if you are in a depressed and low confidence state of mind, this will come across in your relationship - and as much as she may care for you, she'll probably soon get bored of you constantly moaning about how much your life sucks.
Try to do something to make your self feel better. I go to the gym twice a week, and I'm far from having chizled pecks or a six pack, but just going gives me such a confidence boost. Go clothes shopping, buy some nice fashionable expensive clothing, hell invite one of the birds you fancy to come shopping and she can give you style tips.
I find if I'm out on the pull in a club, having some nice clothes on makes me feel good, other people may not know I spent a lot on them, but sub conciously it makes me more confident. The gym think linked with self improvement also helps portray a better self image - a feeling of satisfaction.
If your white and pale skinned, try getting some tanning lotion to gradually build up a tan.
Get your hair sorted, go to a hair dressers and ask for them to jazz it up.
If your skin is skanky, use some moisturiser every day etc.
One problem is, girls these days expect a modern man to look after themselves - you probably know this deep down and thus lack confidence when you approach girls because of it.
I generally don't have a problem talking to people or making friends, I can generally make people laugh in person - so my problem isn't that I'm shy. My problem is I think too much, so when I speak to a girl I like - I'm standing there thinking what she's thinking.
I struggle to not feel like a sleezy creep if I go over and introduce myself to a girl / bunch of girls in a club - where I'm constantly thinking they're thinking 'who's this twat?'. However drink usually cures me thinking this.
You'll be suprised, you may think if you go over to a random girl and start chatting about whatever she'll look at you funny and run off to her mates laughing, but providing you don't come across too weird, most will happily stand there chatting and if you make her laugh
Though, make sure you don't go too far with the whole dutch courage drinking, as I've been falling about, spluttering gibberish before, and really it didn't make me look good.
I must admit, girls under-estimate how hard it is for us 'average' joe guys.
Most girls say they will go for a personailty over looks, however if your say out in a club (or wherever) to get a girl to know your personality, you need to start chatting and if your not brad pitt she won't approach you. If you lack confidence you probably won't approach her.
Then if you get to know the girl too well, you become 'Mates' and are no longer viable for anything to happen between you (though sometimes not the case).
I do understand adam's point about wanting to know a girl into cars though - Every girl I've ever known in person (not including cruise slags), has not understood why I like cars, why I spend money on my car or why I go round a race track.
I just think people like Adam-D need to sort themselves out as a person first, before trying to go out looking for a girl - apply to one of those programs on tv that do a make over and sort out your confidence / life etc - Seriously though, just look at what you could do to improve your life, confidence / situation. This will reflect naturally from you, and thus help a lot more when you next approach a girl you like and start talking.
