I thought there to be two F16s as well

Short ratio box with about a 130mph @ 6800rpm limiter (2.0 16v). Short Ratios

Long ratio box, longer than F16 CR, but shorter than F20 with a longer final drive and roughly the same top speed as the F20 (147mph@6800rpm)

Not 100% though....

hence over 120+ CTR take forever to gain more speed

Look at the pic below also in my mates R

This indicates what i mean about power

At 120+ the R is just hitting the V-Tec in 6th, in 5th you cannot take it past 120

Thus V-tec kicks in and 197 BHP is made available at 7800 but the drag produced is so much acceleration is minimal

The torque figure produced by this engine for 2.0 N/A is not that bad but not good

Its the point at which it is delivered thats the killer at 5800 - on the V-tec actuator

Having said all this the transmission and engine combo is one the best in the world for this sort of money

really takes time to get used to how you need to drive a CTR hence that why alot are not driven to their potential and seem slow

We once pulled off a roundabout in 3rd at about 3000 rpm and the car was left for dead by a VTS

Then on the next round about dropped it to second at 5500 rpm and the VTS could not be seen

They are not flexibale engines in the sense of performance. its all or nothing on the rev range I'm afraid

I know... its ridiculous

Monkey this is rubbish!!!!!

more torque... 10lbs / ft... hardly the massive difference you seem to think??? plus they have an extra 50bhp... which IS a big difference...

A standard 2.0 Corsa gets to 100 in around 18 seconds at a guess? And the CTR is in the 16's.

ive noticed that on this board aswell, despite the fact that there would be nothing in a ITR vs CTR race people seem to hate the CTR and call it crap yet the ITR is one of the all time cool cars to own on here

My 299hp Corsa Turbo with mates 236hp stripped CTR...

From 2 gear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koOU_1goWBo

From 3 gear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA6q750uyoU

I know that mine it was not in good shape, stalled coz of temp/boost problems that night, but we can all enjoy the example.

This CTR was a nice one, with many streetracing miles... so, very well "rolledout", and that, for what i can see here in Portugal is very important...

Also this is a 17kms bridge... ( VDG - Vasco Da Gama )

i cant see why they get so much stick on here tbh.
they are just as quick as the mk4_astra gsi, clio 182, mk5 golf gti etc. fair enough they seem to be a rich kids nova but that doesnt stop them being a great all round hot hatch.
also didnt robbo say his type r was slightly quicker than his mk5 golf gti?

as whitter45 says when it comes to the power its all or nothing in a type r

vtec

why the great all round? look gash, steering has lack of feeling. Engine is top notch if you dont mind ragging it to fook.

The get stick as so many people gone on about them as if they are supercars. they also act as if Vtec is some sort of huge turbo that only works at 5krpm. Its the cocks that brag about them that have ruined the image. Not even that quick

the VTEC zone, WTF? you do chat some shit.

I kno this was a while ago, but this annoyed me. The VTEC 'powerband' kicks in at 4500rpm. watch and learn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcT_ZyY3F0k&mode=related&search=
