this thread inspired me to start playing again!
Took a trip to local music shop at the weekend and bought
Yamaha F310
Stand
Guitar for dummies
CA-40 tuner
Few other bits and bobs!
Picking it all back up pretty quickly!
People should keep updating this thread for more info and progress notes!

So is Layla one of the easiest?
Thats a good question actually, which songs are the easiest. The sooner I can play a full song the better, I'll put more effort in from there onwards

live forever is easy, don't look back in anger, half the world away, don't go away....
to be honest, 90% of Oasis stuff is the same chords.
If you can play one Oasis song, you can play them all

I used to play a little. Still have my Jim Deacon electric guitar, i don't play any more though.
I just get annoyed when trying to play becasue i can't play many songs. I will think... that sounds cool i'll get the tabs for that. Then i can't play it. It just annoys me.
I just expect to much from my self, and so do many people i would think. If i had stuck at it i imagine i would be fairly good by now.

In all seriousness, the pro-players put superglue on the tips of their fingers. Let it dry first. Obviously

When you start playin guitar. After a 2-/30min session. Go put ur fingers in warm water, Supposedly hardens the skin up. Mine were seriously sore when i started playing

It was just something I'd picked up from guys that've worked musicals and played til their hands were literally bleeding, with 5 songs of the show left.
If you wanna keep playing even with sore fingers, its the only way

so far i can play tonnes of riffs and know quite a few chords but cant get my fingers moved between them to play the songs!
Oh well, practice makes perfect!
I found just playing "harder to breathe" by maroon 5 sped up my fingers a bit

Got another question
On the guitar tabs website ( http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ ) I don't really get what this type of thing means
G D Em B C G# C# D# Bm7?
-3----2-----7-----7-----0-----4-----4-----6-----0----|
-3----3-----8-----7-----1-----4-----6-----8-----0----|
-0----2-----9-----8-----0-----5-----6-----8-----0----|
-0----0-----9-----9-----2-----6-----6-----8-----1----|
-2----------7-----9-----3-----6-----4-----6-----2----|
-3----------------7-----------4-----4-----------0----|
Rest of it is here http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/b/babyshambles/beg_steal_or_borrow_acoustic_tab.htm
Picked a random song, they all seem to be like that though
Help

the numbers are the frets.
the first set of numbers there is a G chord, you put your fingers on the fret that the number tells you to

So the 1st & 2nd time I play the G I do it in the 3rd fret? Then in the normal twice, then in 2 & 3?

nah, nothing like that Matt.
the first numbers -
3
3
0
0
2
3
is a G, just a normal G.
play a G, look where your fingers are, they'll be on the bottom string, 3rd fret, next one up, 3rd fret, next two open, then 2nd fret and 3rd again going up...

the second pic here is what is written as
3
3
0
0
2
3
in your thing.
