*****UPDATE*****

Well the car is booked in for its MOT thursday and I had noticed the handbrake wasn't holding as well. So I decided to take the rear drums apart to see if they were warn or needed adjusting as it's about the only thing I've never touched on the car

So got them off and found some very warn drums and shoes.

Went out and got new parts.

New cylinder

New bearings and drums:

got the bearings pressed in

Also got new shoes:
Old Vs New

New shoes in

and getting back together

Got friends over this evening so had to stop there but will bleed and adjust them tomorrow.

Cheers Dan!

Yeah hopefully I'll be able to win the handbrake turn contest at billing now

Yeah keeping it bling like that at the moment Looks so much better but I know it won't be long until there's rust then they'll get a nice coat of silver again

I thought it was best left alone until I had any problems. Glad I checked when I did.

We've had sun most of the day Little bit of rain now though

Looking tidy Darryl

What's your overall opinion on the full Gaz suspension now after you had time to drive it a bit & did you have to fit any spacers or anything to the fronts?

Cheers Mark

I love them mate, much better than the old set up. No spacers or anything on them, scrubs on the arch a little at the front but that's only because I've got it quite low

Aye im happy with how low it is Dan just want the front end to be a little firmer.

Was a handfull at times on the way to pvs down the the motorway trying to keep it in a straight line, the front felt quite bouncy compared to the rear.

The surface of the drums should give an alright key, got Tom round yesterday to have a look and he said they should be fine to do, he was in about polishing them up a bit so probably going to give that a go

those shoes arent that worn lol plenty of life in them, also dont need a press to get those bearing races in.

i reckon a clean up and adjustment those would have been ok

have you packed those bearings properly with grease? doesnt look like it in the pics

They're touching the rivets on the top.

Pressed them in because it was easier, the bearing were placed on to show they were new. Obviously I took them back off and packed them with grease

No photos but it's all back together Drums will be getting sorted friday with some lacquer. Tom said he'll polish them up real shiny once they're dry as well so looking forward to that!! He's also said he'll give the car a bit of a detail when he gets a day or two free so looking forward to that also!

Well as I thought, failed on emmissions today.

Going to have a play over the weekend and next week see what I can do to sort that. The tester was impressed with the car otherwise but couldn't jack it up as it was too low for the ramp so I'll be raising it a bit for that and then he said he'll see what he can do about the emmissions

All hope is not lost, knew it would happen so will get it sorted ASAP. If anyone has an adjustable AFM for the early XE it would be greatly appriciated
