at the people still arguing it won't take off and not understanding that a plane doesn't have an engine driving the wheels.

it's coz those same people don't bother watching the vid or thinking about the question

they just straight away assume that the forces would be equal and thus the plane would be stationary! then think they're being clever by saying a stationary plane would have no air over the wings and not take off...

The point is... The plane will move forward! even on the conveyor belt!

it shouldnt work though, the plane still have to do 40+mph in order to reverse the rotation of the wheels on the conveyor do they not?

and then it would actually start moving through the air?

if the plane is landing on a conveyor belt at 50mph and the conveyor belt is spinning the other way at 50mph will the plane stop dead

how are they being forced backwards? they are just spinning, a freewheeling wheel wont actually put much force on what its joined to in the said direction
